The club was founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse F.C. In 1919 they would change to Leicester City and by then they had started to compete in the football league. Until 2016 Leicester City’s highest finish in the top division of league football was runners up in 1928-29. Leicester have been FA Cup finalists on 4 occasions, 1948–49, 1960–61, 1962–63 and 1968–69 losing all four times. They have also won 3 league cups in 1964, 1997 and 2000 but by far their greatest achievement is their 2015-16 Premiership winning season.

Leicester city’s title-winning season created many memorable tv moments, Jamie Vardy breaking the goalscoring record previously held by Ruud Van Nistelrooy against the latter’s former team Man United and their 3-2 win against Everton that took them top of the table at Christmas. The two most famous TV moments that season, however, were off the field, Ranieri’s famous "Dilly Ding" press conference when they secured Champions League football and the Leicester players celebrating in Vardy’s house after Tottenham drew with Chelsea gifting them the title which was played on tv stations around the world for weeks after.
